WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE SONGS ARE ABOUT ??
Images of you.
Steve wrote this about his "first love" Farah Fawcett-Majors, star of Charlies Angels, rushing home from school to watch her on TV, the poster on the wall, smiling at him whilst in bed !!!!

Tameside Girls.
The original idea came from Me and Haydn as we both went out with Girls from the Tameside area of Manchester and had similar problems..... we both got chucked !!!!

What can I do?
Steve's experiences with his first real girlfriend .... Dad looking out of the house window as he walked her home ....disapproving because of the way he dressed "just cos I'm a punk rocker" .... no what he means !!

Everyday I make another Mistake.
This was the last song written just before we split up in 1980. I't's about all the mistakes we made, not believing someone who was prepared to send us to Japan, not going on a tour to Holland, making loads of bad decisions along the way, looking back in hindsight is a wonderful thing !!!

Bombed our school.
Yes it is real !!!! In the street where me and Steve lived was a lad named Mark, he was a few years older than us and had an Irish mother. He could do the accent well. At that time there were a lot of hoax calls so we dared him to phone our school with a bomb scare to see what happened. As the song says we ended up being evacuated and it was headlines in the local paper that week. Nobody ever knew who did it, Mark went on to join the Army and ended up on a tour of duty in Belfast.

Modern Day Romance
This is one of the first songs Steve ever wrote, it's about my best friend's sister.

Things you do
Steve wrote this about people who don't think for themselves, always copy others. "I really like the things you do, I want to do it to, I want to be like you... argh!!!!"

I'm Alright
I wrote this about my Tameside girl ... "always searching for her own fame !!!"

Looking for something
Steve wrote this about doing your own thing ... don't let anyone stand in your way, if you want something, go for it.

Marching as to war
This is about growing up in the "Cold War." You heard stories of Dads, Uncles etc. that had either fought in the 2nd world war or called up for national service, it's about the worry of being called up, we watched TV news as Americans were being drafted for Vietnam and wondered would we be next ???

The Kids Just Wanna Dance
This is the true story of our residency at "The Butchers Arms Pendlebury." We played there for about 6 months every Saturday night building up a steady following. It started when Me and Haydn had gone in the pub for a drink and noticed they had bands on, so we told the landlord we played 60's and 70's cover versions (we didn't mention the cover versions were songs like White Riot, Pretty Vacant, Substitute, The Kids are Alright etc). Anyway we got the gig, and to our amazement he actually liked it and booked us for the following week. This continued and we slowly began replacing all the covers with our own songs. The audiences were getting bigger week by week, (during this period Haydn Jones left and Craig Hilton joined). Craig had only been with us a few weeks when we played our usual Saturday night, the place was really packed. Everyone was jumping about dancing, when several kids banged into the PA speakers knocking them over smashing a table and glasses. The landlord was not happy about this and thought it might end up wreaking the pub, so he banned us !!!!! Listen carfully to the lyrics as Steve sings "someone danced just a little too much and we got banned from the Butchers Arms."
